Petite Modeling: is There a Career for You?

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Jennifer Parker PEtite modeling is a tough industry to break into. Especially since most modeling agencies won’t represent models unless they’re 5 feet and 9 inches tall or taller. Have you had people tell you’re cute? Do you hear all the time “you should be a model”? But you just don’t qualify for the strict standards that most modeling angencies have? Rest assured there is a career out there for the petite model. There is work in the worlds of the fashion, commercial, editorial and many other industries for the less 5 feet 9 inch models. There is even work for models as short as 5 feet tall. Most of the work in the petite modeling industry involoves close up pictures of the face, hands, feet or other body parts instead of the body as a whole. The fashion modeling industry, however is very body focused, that is why they have such stringent height requirements for their models. As a petite or avearage size model you would probably not be working much in the fashion industry so bodily imperfections and height are not usually factors. Evan a fairly average looking person can be very successful in this industry if they are willing to work hard, get the job done and show clients they are easy to work with. So how do you get in to this specialized segment of the modeling market? First, remember the focus in this market is very much on the face rather than the figure. To make it in this market you need to have nice skin, a good bone structure, good teeth, and be cute. Most of your success will also be based on the look that is “in” at the moment. To find out if you have any chance of success as a petite model you need to get an evaluation from an agency or someone who has contact with clients within the industry. This will tell you if you have the look that their clients are hiring at the moment. If you are told you just don’t have the right look at the moment don’t despair. The modeling industry moves at a fast pace, and what’s not in now could be the rave in the next 6 months. The models in this segment of the market are often paid very well because advertisers usually focus more on the look of the models face than her figure. Advertisers usually have more money to spend than many clients in the fashion industry and a good model could make as much as $125.00 per hour on her first job. Not cute? Do you think you don’t have that “glamourous” look that could get you high paying jobs as a model. Don’t despair, even a normal person can get high paying jobs in this industry if they are easy to work with and sparkle on camera. A plain model who exhibits spark and vitality is more likely to get the job than a beautiful model who is lifeless. Photographers and clients would rather work with a model who is vibrant and easy to work with than a beautiful one who is honery, does not take instructions well, and acts “snobby” or conceited on the job. Putting too high a price on yourself in this highly competative industry many times will cause clients to pass you on for a more pleasant model. Rest assured there is plenty of work in this industry if you have the looks, talent, and are easy to work with. Integrity and Marketing - Finding the Right Balance

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Thomas Murrell When marketing themselves to leads and prospects there are five common mistakes people make, all which can be easily avoided by finding the right balance to maintain your personal and professional integrity in all pursuits. Five common mistakes many people make are; 1. Talking too much. Enthusiasm sells! But don’t talk too much about yourself - focus on your prospects needs and wants and how you can solve their problems. 2. Not listening. All good marketers have exceptional listening skills. Be an active not a passive listener. Ask plenty of questions to find out what problems your client has so you can provide a solution. 3. Hard sell. Even in desperate times always avoid a hard sell approach. Ignoring the needs of the client or your own company can have long term effects and result in the loss of potential work both immediately and in the future. Always market the benefits - the “What’s In It for ME” approach really does work and is better than purely focusing on selling the features. 4. Lack of clarity. It is a competitive market out there and you need to focus on your UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSITION. What is it that makes you, your service or product unique anddifferent from others? Once you have identified this you have your strongest selling point, and the focus of your marketing campaigns. 5. Distractions. Life is really busy. Some people are too busy and easily distracted from the main game. Learn as much as you can about setting goals, writing them down and working out on a daily basis the important tasks to do. It’s called time and priority management and is a hallmark of successful people. Remember the “3 D’s - Do It, Dump It or Delegate It” and if your life or your job depends on it - then it is a Must-do “A” priority, the rest can wait. Focus is a powerful thing. Vitamins for Dull Hair

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By Kent Pinkerton Movie stars and celebrities always seem to have the perfect hair - shiny, healthy, and vibrant. Sadly, not all of us are movie stars and we can not afford the expensive treatments and pampering that they give to their hair. “Normal” people are more prone to dry and dull hair due to excessive exposure to the sun, wind, and water. Hair drying and perming can take its toll on the hair, too. But now, dull hair can be treated thanks to the many hair vitamins available today. Why hair turns dull Hair turns dull due to too much exposure to the elements like sun, wind, and water. The chlorine in swimming pools can leave your hair dry and dull. Excessive combing can lead to dull hair, too. The friction caused by pulling a brush through the hair wears away the protective external layering of the hair strand called the cuticle. Under normal circumstances, this cuticle is a scale-like armor for the hair strand, giving it its natural resiliency. But if worn away, the hair strands become damaged, leaving hair dry and dull. Other activities such as excessive blow drying, hair treatments, perming, straightening, and coloring can damage the hair in the long run. Because of all these, moisture is lost in the hair and the important oils known as lipids are not retained efficiently. Resurrect your hair Hair vitamins can resurrect your dull hair. Look for products that have Vitamin E, folic acid, para-aminobenzoic acid, and inositol. Vitamin E is helps replenish lost moisture not only in the hair but in the skin as well. Folic acid and para-aminobenzoic acid, both of which are a few of the many B-complex vitamins, are good for the hair as well. Folic acid speeds up reproduction of new cells to replace the old ones, and para-aminobenzoic acid revitalizes hair by making its natural color fuller and richer. Inositol is a chemical which strengthens the cell membranes of the hair, making it retain moisture better. Handmade Wedding Rings

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

By Peter Emerson The representation behind a wedding ring is of great importance and hence, choosing a perfect ring becomes essential. There are many decisions a couple needs to make about choosing wedding rings, such as metal type, style, and size. Another factor that is advisable for couples to consider when purchasing wedding rings is the price as they often spend quite a bit on other wedding necessities as well. To make this occasion even more special some individuals may order handmade wedding rings. They are designed according to the wishes of the concerned person and hence turn out to be very costly. The brides and grooms may also decide to get their wedding rings handmade and engrave each other’s initials on the inside or outside the rings. This gives the rings a personal touch and makes them unique. While ordering handmade wedding rings couples need to keep in mind that once these rings are made it is not possible to return or exchange them as they are personalized. Brides can also design their wedding gowns according to their handmade rings and give the whole affair a touch of inimitability. In towns where there are very few jewelry shops and artisans, the Internet proves to be a very helpful resource for couples in search of handmade wedding rings. Many sites provide information about handmade wedding rings, the addresses of special and skilled artisans, and their rates. Some jewelry stores may also hire such skilled artisans apart from hoarding regular wedding rings. The websites also allow the customers to look at a few samples of earlier handmade and customized wedding rings. This is accompanied by the detailed description of the manufacturing process of the rings, the alloys and metals used in them, the price for each kind of make, and the complete list of other available rings. Wedding Rings provides detailed information on Wedding Rings, Titanium Wedding Rings, Platinum Wedding Rings, Celtic Wedding Rings and more. Wedding Rings is affiliated with Diamond Wedding Bands. Germs In The kitchen

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By David Beart Every day you see television commercials for the latest germ-killing products on the market. Companies are constantly reminding you of the pesky, persistent bacteria that apparently attacks your home throughout the day. It’s remarkable that something so small, that you can only see with it a microscope, can be so harmful! But germs are real. However, you have to know what they are exactly to truly combat them. Here’s a guide to germs and how you can keep them out of your kitchen in particular. Bathrooms have a bad reputation for hosting threatening germs, but this reputation is not really earned. Kitchens are where the majority of germs in your house are located. And that’s why it’s so important not to ignore them. It’s easy to forget that the invisible little buggers are lurking behind every corner, but if you do, they will certainly make your life a lot tougher. The reason you can kill a germ, is because it is indeed a living organism! There are four kinds of germs: bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. Many germs may invade plants, animals and humans temporarily and with little consequence, and some germs are even good! For example, there is bacteria in out intestines that help us digest our food. Also, doctors are able to engineer medicines and vaccines with the help of bacteria. But for the most part, if germs decide to hang their hat in your body, they will try to take over. Ever been stuck in bed with the flu? If you answered yes, then you were infected by a virus. Or maybe you’ve had an ear infection! The culprit was bacteria in that case. Germs consume your much-needed energy and nutrients and produce nasty toxins; toxins that cause those classic symptoms of sickness, like sore throat and coughing. So germs, for the most part, are not our friends. They are everywhere though. And in places where you store food, like the kitchen, this can be a unique problem. The best way to prevent germs from invading your body is to simply wash your hands often. Germs are typically transferred from person to person. If someone coughs on your or even just touches you, those nettlesome germs may hop from them to you. This is why door knobs and other objects that people commonly touch are especially germ-ridden. By simply washing your hands with soap often, however, you can kill germs before they have a chance to make you sick. If you’ve just pet your dog or coughed, then you are more vulnerable to germs, so wash your hands. It’s as plain as that. So, in the kitchen, the same rule applies. Remember to wash your hands often and always before you prepare food. However, there’s a bit more you can do than that. Here are some steps you can take to keeping your kitchen nice and clean, so that those malicious germs don’t stand a chance. Fortunately, you don’t have to be a neat freak to create a healthy environment for your family. In addition to washing your hands frequently (with soap and warm water), you can use the following tips to ensure those germs die young. Your counters and sink are a breeding ground for germs. Because your hands, food, utensils, rags, etc, will all grace the counter tops and the sink, you have to keep them clean. Don’t cry over spilled milk. Just clean it up immediately! What you use to clean the counters and sink is not as important as you might think. A sponge or rag or a one-time wipe will all work perfectly. The key is to keep them clean too! Throw that sponge or rag in the washer often. You can also soak your dishcloths in warm, soapy water when they’re not being used. The worst thing you can do is clean up your kitchen with a dirty dishcloth. This is why those throwaway disinfectants can be really advantageous! (Always use disinfectant sprays, as well, to go along with your other cleaning supplies.) Remember that warm water and soap are a germ’s enemies. Moreover, be wary of cutting boards. The nooks and crannies in your home are commonly invaded by germs, until they can find a better, living host. When you use a cutting board, you will likely make small dents into it with your knife, and these small crevices lure germs. So make sure that you scrub your cutting board hard after every single use. Obviously you want your dishes to be spic and span. Thankfully, we have dishwashers these days that do the trick. It can never hurt to give the dishes a little rub with a clean dishcloth before putting them away in the dishwasher however. Another surprising piece of advice is that paper towels and cups are better than the alternative. You may want to dry off your hands with that cloth towel or drink from that glass. However, sharing hand towels and drinking glasses is the first thing germs want you to do! Why not buy some cheap dispensable paper cups to keep around the kitchen and invest in paper towels? It’s a really simple way to prevent those germs from traveling. Also keep in mind that a room where food and water are common, you have to be extra careful. Damp areas can produce fungi and food that’s left out too long will encourage the growth of bacteria. So, instead of fretting about how clean your toilet bowl is or wiping that sponge over your counter top 20 times in a row, just take into consideration these tips and your kitchen will be less inviting for those ugly germs. Yes, you probably will come down with a cold every once in a while, but you certainly can be on the offense more often than not if you know where to find and kill those germs! FOREX - Day Traders Discipline Is The Key

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Steve John Cowan Although it has been some years since I was actively involved in trading, I have just returned to the markets and have begun to trade a small account on my own behalf. This has perhaps given me a slightly skewed perspective of the markets, almost like a new entrant, but one with a lot of experience. There have been some big changes whilst I have been inactive, not least in the number of online brokerages fighting for every dollar. But many things stay the same, at the heart of which is one, I guess, unbreakable truth. Trading is basically a very simple business, with any trading stocks, options, FOREX, whatever only really involving three steps: 1. Find several possible trades evaluate them and decide which to go for,2. Calculate how much to trade, and decide at what points to enter and exit the market3. Keeping an eye on, or monitoring, open market positions Now, these three steps were basically all there was to it a few years ago, and they still And, guess what, people are still getting totally bogged down right here, at this early stage of the trading process, generally, for one of two reasons. The first possible reason is that they simply are not aware that these are the steps involved in the trading process, or (the second reason) they have no clearly defined rules for actioning these steps. Thus, less experienced, more nervous, traders can often take hours to evaluate a small number of potential trades. Experienced day traders, on the other hand, are fully aware that, with little time available to execute their trading, they must have a process plan and they must stick to it. A day trader will set out his (or her) plan of action something like this: 1. Recognize the opportunity, enter the market 2. Stay in the trade for as long as possible if it is going for him or 3. Get the heck out of there with minimum losses, as soon as it is clear it is going to go the wrong way Thats it! Thats essentially what a day trader in any market was doing years ago, and that is what a day trader is still doing today, with little or no change to their working practices brought about by the vastly more advanced technology of today. Savvy day traders learn very quickly that they must plan ahead of time, so that they are in prime position to take full advantages of the opportunities that occur in real time. Thus, day trading, which on paper at least is a pretty dangerous and risky manner of working markets is, in fact, one of the most disciplined trading schools! By the nature of market movements and the way they operate, day traders simply cannot afford to run their trading business on a wing and a prayer! Day trade with discipline and there is good money to be made. Trade without it, its a one way ticket to the loans queue! After a few years sabbatical, Steve has recently returned to forex trading, and airs his views on the current forex market, amongst other things, at http://webbiz99.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Steve_John_Cowan http://EzineArticles.com/?FOREX—Day-Traders-Discipline-Is-The-Key&id=509065 ambien addictive side effects ativan zorka pharma santa barbara pharmacy zolpidem ambien cr image

Jinxed Relationships — Are Yours?

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Oma Edoja Do you consider yourself unlucky in love? Have your relationships all been ending on a sad note lately? Perhaps youve come to the conclusion that you are jinxed! Before you give up on love, or decide that it never existed in the first place, please join me; lets take a look at loving from a different perspective. Experts at the game of life and loving tell us that there are four important laws that we must know, and use to our advantage. They have been found to be the basis of all human success. These laws are: The Law of Sowing and Reaping (or Cause and Effect): You get from a relationship what you put into it. If you consider it not worth sowing into, perhaps you had better get out of it; you will not reap much where you do not sow. The Golden rule applies here too.If people worked as hard at their relationships as they do at their careers and businesses we would all be much happier in love! Imagine all the workshops and courses, the goal-setting sessions, the coaches and consultants we employ in the workplace. Could a therapist, a book, a retreat or a heart-to-heart talk take the jinx off your relationship? The Law of Belief: Whatever you believe becomes your reality. Human beings tend to see what they believe, not the other way round. What kind of thoughts and beliefs do you have concerning your relationship, your partner, or members of the opposite sex in general? For instance, a man who believes that women are inferior is going to treat all his female partners that way. This certainly will not make for a rosy relationship. A woman who is out to get all men because of the poor relationship she had with her step-father will definitely start (and end) her relationships on a wrong footing. Do the results you are getting in your relationships indicate the presence of destructive thinking? The Law of Expectation: You get what you expect. Expect good in your relationships, and thats what youll get. Expect all women to behave like your step-mother, or all men to be after only one thing, and you increase the chances of meeting partners that conform to these patterns. Expectations are like self-fulfilling prophecies. What have you been expecting in your relationships? Does it bear an uncanny resemblance to what youve been getting? The Law of Attraction: You attract what youve got with your thoughts, actions and inactions. Most people dont like to hear this. They swear it is someone elses fault whenever things go wrong. But whether you like to hear it or not, you have attracted to yourself the kind of mate that you have because of the way you think. Psychologists tell us that muggers most likely pick vulnerable-looking people as victims, avoiding bolder types. Vulnerability attracts them. Women with low-self-esteem often unknowingly attract abusive men. They believe they have to put up with the abuse, or they somehow deserve it. On the other hand, women with higher-self esteem would not tolerate abuse. They believe they deserve better treatment, they demand it, and they often get better it. In relationships, becoming more, in terms of self-esteem and bringing more value to the relationship, usually engenders getting more. Do you enter relationships with the heart to give, or the mind to get? Could this be determining the results you are receiving? Being jinxed, or unlucky, implies that bad things keep happening to you through no fault of yours. Is what happens in a relationship truly no ones fault, especially if its a repeated pattern? I believe you can greatly improve the quality of your relationships if you will sow what youd like to reap, be objective in your beliefs, expect the best of your partner and relationship and build value into yourself, so that you attract value.Of course, if you do not value your relationship this much, or do not think your partner is worth it, thats a sign that you might be with the wrong person. There is no mystery about getting along well with your partner, and having a worthwhile relationship. If you will both commit to these four laws of life and loving you can at least have fun while youre together. And at best you can have the kind of relationship you desire. Are your relationships jinxed? I think not; you might just have a lot of new learning to do! Copyright 2005 Oma Edoja This article may be reproduced only as is, with authors resource box attached. Do You Have a Back-End Marketing Strategy in Place?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By L A Parmley To make things really interesting (and profitable), you need to offer your clients additional items. This can generate an entire new source of income for you. Its called back-end marketing. Your current clients are easier to sell to than new prospects since they already trust you. So find them other things they might like to buy. Remember, if you were in their shoes, what else might interest you? Hey, you can always ask them with an informal survey So make sure you keep a list of all your customers. Compile this list in a database of some sort and guard it with your life. Lists are often-times considered the most valuable assets a business can have. Then send out follow-up/thank-you info to keep the number of refunds down. You can also use this database to send out more offers to your group of clients. Just be sure you send out offers for items related to the product they already purchased. The Giving Spirit Like I just mentioned, many successful businesses create new products just to sell to their current customers. This is a smart strategy — they already trust you so they are much more likely to buy from you again. Another idea is instead of making your current customers purchase your newly developed product at full-price, you could give it to at least a few of them for free or at a significant discount. This works especially well if you are providing ebooks, online courses or downloadable software since these have no overhead cost. By providing a free or steeply discounted copy of your latest and newest product, your customers will love you for it, you can easily get testimonials endorsing your hot new product before you release it for sale, and you can even use these special customers to test your new product out for you. They can provide you with some solid feedback before you send out an advertisement to new prospects. Its really a win-win situation so why not give it a try? Copyright 2005 by L A Parmley. Tax Attorneys

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By J Shipper Few things threaten your well-being like theharassment and anxiety of persistent tax problems. Most people make 3 mistakes that get them in trouble with the IRS.They procrastinate. They attempt to represent themselves. They hire sub-par representation and now are in MORE need of help than ever before. These are the kind of services a Tax Attorney can provide:Offer in Compromise Cases,Penalty Abatement Petitions,Full Audit Representations Business Strategy Sessions.Preparation and Filing of Tax Returns.Settle taxes for Pennies on the Dollar owed,Stop IRS wage and bank levies (garnishments), Have property liens lifted, get affordable installment agreements, File bankruptcy against the IRS, Have penalties and interest forgiven, Reduce taxes by running out the IRS’ time to collect. Offer in Compromise:Settle your taxes forPennies on the Dollar owedProfessional law offices can help get you a favorable settlement with an experienced IRS tax attorney. The IRS’ Offer in Compromise program allows taxpayers to settle their tax debt. What is an IRS offer in compromise? It settles your tax liability for less than the full amount owed, providing you can prove you don’t have the ability to pay. Depending on how much you can afford, you really can pay “Pennies on the Dollar Owed” in taxes. If it is done correctly - this option could save you an enormous amount of money, and is the best strategy for most taxpayers. You should take extreme caution. You should hire a professional with knowledge of the IRS’ procedures. This professional should determine the least amount that the IRS will accept from you. If the Offer is not submitted correctly it will be rejected, or you may be required to pay more than is necessary. An Offer in Compromise may save you a LARGE amount of money.Do you know that the IRS only has a limited timeto collect your back taxes?Let a Professional Tax Attorney determine when the IRS’ time limit to collect taxes runs out. In most cases the IRS has only a limited time to collect the unpaid taxes. You must CAREFULLY evaluate exactly when that time period will run out. Your troubles may be solved.and moreover:If the IRS’ time has run out, or if it will run out soon, your troubles may be over. Delaying tactics may be used to stall the IRS while their time runs out. Once the IRS is out of time, they MUST stop ALL collection action against you. The IRS MUST release all property liens TAX RETURNS - FAILURE TO FILE Many people fail to file Individual Income Tax Returns for a variety of reasons. Some reasons are innocent, although the most common is the fact that people can’t afford to pay the taxes. When this happens it becomes difficult to get back into the system. “I filed for 1998. I couldn’t pay for 2000, so I did not file. Then I was afraid to file for 2001. I haven’t filed since then. What can I do now?” If you do not file Income Tax Returns you commit a criminal offense. However, no one who has voluntarily filed back returns before being caught has ever been criminally prosecuted. That is the first key: filing BEFORE they catch you. IRS Penalties Some IRS penalties can be as high as 100% to 150% of the original taxes owed. Even if you could pay the taxes owed, the extra penalties will make it impossible to pay off the entire balance. The IRS imposes penalties to punish taxpayers and keep them in line. The IRS does forgive penalties. Before you pay the IRS any penalty amounts, you may want to consider requesting the IRS to not punish you because it wasn’t your fault. Constipated? No more!

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

By Ron Shelf Constipation is the worst not being able to go to the bathroom regularly and have this abnormal pain! It is not something we need to learn how to live with, but something we must take care of because it’s not just painful but also not good for your health. So what is it really? What is the cause for this terrible pain?! Constipation is very common, it happens when the bowel movements are infrequent and not complete. Constipation is very painful and causes abdominal pain. When do we get constipated? When the body is dehydrated, the stool gets very hard and causes constipation. For some people nervousness and anxiety can cause either constipation or diarrhea. Constipation can also appear because of medications or injury. What can we do to prevent constipation? We need make sure we live our lives healthy and notice our lives habits: what we eat and drink and if we work out and how frequent. Eating right, drinking enough water and exercising are the answer for most people. For some people constipation is not just drinking more or eating right because for them it is a sickness and they need to know how to live with it and take care of their bodies. For that I would recommend to start a diet which means, not to eat less but to eat things that will make the bowel to move. We need to exercise our bowel by eating things that are easy to digest. Plums, apples, carrots, dates, red beet, oatmeal, horseradish, figs, green cabbage, lettuce; these will all help your bowel to start working and learn how to digest properly. Try and eat at regular hours during the day and dont eat big meals. Try not to eat before you go to bed, better eat in the morning to start the digestion. You can also make some mixtures on your own, very easy to make: Take 1/4 teaspoon of Epsom salt and mix to half a glass of water, drink right a way. Can’t believe how amazing that is. Make a thyme tea by using one teaspoon on thyme to 1 glass of water. Right after you wake up before you eat anything, drink 1 cup of warm water mixed with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and half a lemon juice. Mix concentration of dried figs and concentration of plum, add half a teaspoon of paraffin oil, 1 cup of borsch, honey, lemon and drink. Before you eat in the morning drink 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water. If you will take care of your body and make sure you help your body to digest you will see an improvement in weeks and you will feel so much better! So start now! Dont wait!
